What is Automobile Glass?

Everyone possess a vehicle of their own to commute in modern times.

The cars can be spacious or small, expensive or budget friendly and/or of any color.

All cars have same basic parts that are assembled within the country or are imported.

On one hand we have complex machinery that run a car and on the other hand we have exquisite automobile glass that enhance aesthetic appeal of our cars.

Four types of auto glass are used in assembling driver door glass, passenger door glass, vent glass, quarter glass and back glass:

• Annealed glass is a basic product formed from the annealing stage of the float process.
• Heat Strengthened Glass is semi tempered or semi toughened glass
• Tempered glass is the Toughened Glass
• Laminated Glass

The huge glass sheet in front of the car is termed as the windshield or windscreen. It provides the driver view of outside traffic and protect us from outside elements.  

The windscreen is made up of laminated safety glass. It is a glass which is treated and has two layers of glass.

There is a plastic layer laminated in between for safety and it is bonded in the window frame.

Canopy is the windscreen of an aero plane.

Door glasses in a car include the driver door glass and passenger door glass. The windows are made of auto glass which is either laminated or tempered.

Auto glass designed for front and back ie: driver door glass and passenger door glass is tempered glass in most cases.

There are vent glasses windows that tilt open on passenger door glass.

Quarter glasses are triangle shaped and are located on sides of an automobile.

At the end we have a back glass that cover back side of our car. It is made of tempered safety glass for durability.
