If you need to repair or windshield replacement, there are a few things you should do and not do. Things you shouldn't do when replacing your auto glass
- Washing your car after replacing your auto glass is one of the most common mistakes people make, you should at least wait 2-3 days before washing it. This includes washing your car at a car wash, pressure washer, or hand washing. If you don't wait you might damage the seal that seals the glass with the car and result in a leak that might not be fixed unless you replace the windshield again.
- Removing the tape too soon after the installation. When a windshield is replaced, we usually use a special tape to keep the windshield in its place, that way we secure it from moving. You should wait at least a day before removing it.
Things you should do
- Replace the wipers if they are old, we always suggest replacing the wipers if they are old. Old wipers can scratch and damage your new windshield. This might wear out the windshield and it might need to be replaced sooner than it should be.
- Don't slam the doors after having your auto glass replaced. Slamming the doors could create an excessive air pressure against the new windshield, this can impair the seal of the windshield and result in a leak or shift the windshield from its place. If either of that happen, you will need to replace the windshield again.
